Fast fashion brands from around the world have been opening megastores one after another in Harajuku, the "town of the young". Even domestic enterprises are opening up their shops, such as point's, collectpoint, and the competition is heating up. Forever21, which opened on April 29th, is the brand's first store in Japan, and is next to H&M, which opened six months ago. Forever21 has a plan of opening over 100 stores, focusing mainly on streetside shops. "collectpoint," which was opened near the UNIQLO "UT Store", is targeting annual sales of 1 billion yen. Other shops such as ZARA, MANGO, GAP, and TOPSHOP/TOPMAN have also gathered around the Jingu-mae intersection. The fast fashion boom is taking off, and with the number of customers currently on the rise, a synergistic effect is making itself visible.
