Tokyo, Shibuya is undergoing great changes. Harajuku, that have been the center of the attention for emerging foreign "fast fashion" stores, this autumn is to be replaced by Shibuya. There are Lumine Man Shibuya, Opening Ceremony and H&M already launched in Shibuya, and soon they will be followed by the opening of global players such as Zara (2nd store in Shibuya) in November and UNIQLO next spring, what might change the flow of the customers and the location of the leading stores. Together with the redevelopment around the Shibuya Station, the further changes are expected in the future.
With a launch of a new Metro Fukutoshin Line in 2008, Shibuya and Harajuku have been attracting more and more customers. Moreover, the start of direct drive between Tokyu Toyoko Line and Metro Fukutoshin Line in 2012 will stimulate further redevelopment and that surely raise the potential of the area. That is the reason why the leading brand stores and other commercial facilities are turning their attention to Shibuya.
At the moment Shibuya Station is the third biggest station after Shinjuku and Ikebukuro by the number of passengers. Unlike Harajuku that is only known as a fashion district, Shibuya has a potential to become soon the leading trendsetter in fashion, culture and entertainment.
